2018 Update

2 min read
Woa, it's 2018! Time sure does move fast. It's been awhile since I've posted, but I have been working on a lot of projects since I was last here on deviantART, and I want to upload some of it soon!
The biggest thing I'm trying to figure out is how people manage all these social media and art accounts these days. With deviantART changing the way it privatizes the things we post and other websites like Tumblr and Patreon providing new and different opportunities, it can be challenging to decide what to upload where and when and how to keep it all organized. And with more mobile-friendly social media like Twitter and Instagram providing the opportunity to post content without as much pressure for it to be perfection, it's especially challenging to dedicate the time to finalizing projects into something professional enough for deviantART.

Over the next few months, I plan to experiment with uploading at these different places, and discover how I prefer to organize and share my work. In the meantime, I can't guarantee an equal frequency of posts between these places, so definitely check out the links in my profile if you want to keep up to date with things. Lets go on an adventure!

    1. How long have you been on DeviantArt?

Ooh, it's been awhile. What is it, six years now?

    2. What does your username mean?

It's a strange combination of my name (Meg), and mage. It doesn't really have any other special meaning or significance to me, I just thought it sounded cool.

    3. Describe yourself in three words.

Geek, procrastinator, clever.

    4. Are you left or right handed?

I am right handed.

    5. What was your first deviation?

I'm not sure if this is my first, but I posted this pretty early in my deviantART days.
Shadow Dog by aMege
It even still has some random copyright thing I put in the lower corner. I should probably fix that...

5. What is your favourite type of art to create?

My interests are pretty varied, but I really enjoy making digital drawings/paintings. The type of art I do the most is photography, though.

6. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?

Digital drawings/paintings, definitely. I love the concept art style of a lot of artists here on deviantART.

7. What was your first favourite?

Aida by doubleleaf
doubleleaf is an amazing artist, and I've always been a big fan of the Assassin's Creed series.

8. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?

Recently, I've been favouriting mostly customization stuff, like Android themes, Visual Styles and Rainmeter skins.

9.
Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?

I like so many, I don't think I could choose!

10.
If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?

Apofiss seems like a really cool person. I think meeting him would be a lot of fun.

11.
How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?

So many of the artists I see and follow inspire me to continue to create art even if I don't think it's very good so that hopefully someday I can make amazing art like them.

12.
What are your preferred tools to create art?

For digital paintings, I use Photoshop CS6, MyPaint, and a Wacom tablet. I also use Inkscape for a lot of things.

    13.
What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?

Generally, being outside in the woods is pretty inspiring for me.

14.
What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?

One of my favorite deviantART memories is being a regular in some deviantART chats and getting to know/become friends with a lot of people.

So, literally months ago (in June!), artsytarts tagged me in her music tag journal. After moving the sticky note around my desk for so long, I finally remembered to do it when I have a few minutes of free time. So, here we are!

RULES:
YOU CAN TELL A LOT ABOUT SOMEONE BY THE TYPE OF MUSIC THEY LISTEN TO. Uh oh. HIT SHUFFLE ON YOUR IPOD, PHONE, ITUNES, MEDIA PLAYER ETC. Spotify AND WRITE DOWN THE FIRST 20 SONGS. THEN PASS THIS ON TO 10 PEOPLE, if you'd like - ONE RULE: NO SKIPPING

  1. Bang Bang - New Version by K'NAAN and Adam Levine
  2. On Top of the World by Imagine Dragons
  3. The Call - Soundtrack by Regina Spektor (from Narnia: Prince Caspian)
  4. Absolutely (Story of a Girl) - Radio Mix by Nine Days
  5. Little Wonders by Rob Thomas
  6. Big Yellow Taxi by Counting Crows and Vanessa Carlton
  7. On the Horizon by Brian Tyler (from AC:IV Black Flag)
  8. Alligator Sky by Owl City and Shawn Chrystopher
  9. Little Lion Man by Mumford & Sons
  10. A Message by Coldplay
  11. Onwards! by Murray Gold and The BBC National Orchestra of Wales
  12. Welcome to Mystery by the Plain White T's
  13. Concerning Hobbits by The London Studio Orchestra
  14. You're Gonna Go Far, Kid by The Offspring
  15. Good Riddance [Time of Your Life] by Green Day
  16. Zombie Love Song by Your Favorite Martian
  17. Sail by AWOLNATION
  18. Travelling Man by Chameleon Circuit
  19. What I've Done by Linkin Park
  20. Move Along by The All-American Rejects

I Tag (if you want) no one for now.

Additional note(s): I'm not including Youtube links because I'm assuming these songs are easily found via Google search. I can, however, provide links on request.

If you have dropped by my profile you'll already know that I no longer have a premium subscription. The month's sub previously bestowed upon me was from the Holiday Card Project, and it's unlikely I will be purchasing another in the immediate future. So as to the state of my profile: it may be in the rough-ish shape it is in now for awhile, but eventually I'll either fix it up or get a premium to restore some custom boxes. I will also be working on things such as current beta(s) and submissions.
In the meantime, it's probably best to just browse by profile tabs, and if you're looking for something that was previously on my page and can't find it, don't hesitate to drop me a note.

Themes + Llamas

2 min read
I'm one of those people that can't have the same wallpaper for more than a few months (even sooner if I've seen a good movie). Although I'm not sure how frequently I could upload regularly, I do represent the variety of themes I cultivate. Of course, this means I'm going to have to start saving references/resources for things; resources on deviantART that I downlaod for personal use I always make a point of adding to favorites, but a lot of wallpapers I pick up from Tumblr. Despite a lot of reverse image searches on Google there's some stuff that's been in my wallpaper folders for so long I can't find it anymore.

The main device I plan to upload for is HTC One, though I still do have some older setups from my jailbroken iPod Touch, and I imagine I'll also end up with some PC stuff along the way.

As far as guides go, I'm still working on several--PC ricing, customization resources/recs (wallpapers, icons, etc.), and now an android thing. On a slightly unrelated note, in a desperate attempt to retain my knowledge of Tengwar, I'm also working on a guide to English common mode for that.

In other news, I have nearly 480 llamas! 500 means :iconninjallamaplz: and I'm practically quivering in anticipation! It's probably safe to expect a llama bestowing spree.

Finally... Frozen! As you can probably tell from my poll (and the music player on my profile), I have finally seen what all the snowmen gifs are about and it is spectacular. I understand why Let It Go has been in the Top 20 for the past month! The story line strays farther from Disney's usual story arch more than their other newer movies, and it's fantastic. The animation is awesome (I've seen so many screencaps where you can see the individual threads of the dresses), and the music... don't even get me started on the music. To put it simply, if you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend you do, and if you have... do you wanna build a snowman? Snowflake
